You don’t need to book an organized El Nido adventure tour to explore many of the best beaches on the mainland of El Nido. In fact, discovering these beaches independently is one of the must-do experiences in El Nido—and often the best way to enjoy them at your own pace.

Below are the top mainland beaches you can easily explore on your own.

Nacpan Beach

Nacpan Beach is one of the most stunning beaches in El Nido and is often praised for having some of the clearest water in the Philippines. Located about 22 km north of El Nido town, this long stretch of golden sand is perfect for swimming, relaxing, and spending an entire day by the sea.

While some Palawan tour packages include Nacpan, exploring it independently is highly recommended—you’re free to arrive early, stay for sunset, and leave whenever you want.

How to get there:

  • Rent a motorbike

  • Hire a tricycle or car

Along the beach you’ll find:

  • Beach bars and restaurants

  • Loungers and shaded areas

  • Beach massage spots

Nacpan is ideal for travelers who want a full beach day without feeling rushed.

Las Cabanas Beach (Vanilla Beach)

Las Cabanas Beach, also known as Vanilla Beach, is the easiest and most accessible swimmable beach near El Nido town—just 2–3 km from El Nido proper.

This is the perfect option if you want a beautiful beach without much effort. Simply hop on a tricycle and you’ll be there in minutes.

Why people love Las Cabanas:

  • Calm water and easy swimming

  • Popular sunset views

  • Plenty of beach bars and restaurants

It’s an ideal spot to spend a lazy afternoon or watch the sun set over Bacuit Bay.

Lio Beach

Lio Beach is part of the Lio Estate, a modern coastal development by Ayala Corporation. The area is home to Lio Airport (ENI), boutique hotels, cafés, and beachside restaurants.

Although Lio has a polished, resort-style feel, it is open to everyone—you don’t need to stay there to enjoy the beach.

How to get there:

  • Motorbike or tricycle

  • Around 10 minutes from El Nido town

Lio Beach is great for travelers who want:

  • A clean, wide beach

  • Easy access and facilities

  • A relaxed but refined atmosphere

Duli Beach

Located north of Nacpan, Duli Beach is El Nido’s main surf beach. Swells occur throughout much of the year, making it popular with surfers.

Swimming here can be challenging due to strong waves and riptides, but Duli offers something unique:

  • A shipwreck off the southern end of the beach

  • Opportunities to snorkel directly from shore

  • A sea turtle nursery at Duli Beach Resort

You don’t need a snorkeling tour—snorkels can be rented directly at the resort.

Getting there:

  • Motorbike, car, or tricycle
⚠ Note: The road includes steep dirt sections. Ride carefully, especially during or after rain.

Papaya Beach

Papaya Beach is technically on the mainland, but there are no roads leading to it—making it one of El Nido’s most peaceful and underrated beaches.

With white sand, coconut trees, and dramatic limestone cliffs, Papaya Beach feels untouched and often nearly empty. Island-hopping boats usually skip it in favor of nearby Seven Commandos Beach, which means you may have the place almost to yourself.

How to get there:

  • Rent a small boat with a skipper

  • Kayak from Corong-Corong Beach (recommended)

Avoid kayaking from El Nido town beach, as conditions are safer and easier from Corong-Corong.

Final Tip

Exploring El Nido’s mainland beaches independently gives you:

  • More freedom

  • More time at each location

  • A deeper connection to the place

Island hopping tours are incredible—but these beaches prove that some of El Nido’s best experiences don’t require a tour at all.
